UPMC Beacon Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is the only Emergency
Department attached to an independent hospital in the Eastern region.
It is open 8am to 8pm Monday through Saturday - with the exception of Bank Holiday weekends.
Which patients we can see
We welcome walk-in patients, and we also offer GPs a phone triage
system on 2939 999 from 8am to 6pm Monday - Friday (for following
day appointments where suitable) and all day Saturday (8am-6pm).
We will also provide a same day discharge letter for all patients referred
to us by GPs. If you have any questions, please phone the Emergency Department.
The Emergency Department is a purpose designed facility in Dublins
most advanced hospital. All patients will be seen and treated by fully
qualified Consultants in Emergency Medicine. Our Consultants have the
back up of our full service hospital, including
Laboratory
Radiology - twelve radiology modalities - General Electric showcase
site for Europe
Physiotherapy - full team of chartered Physiotherapists Pharmacy Nursing support from our experienced team
Most importantly surgical, medical, cardiology, orthopaedic and sub
speciality beds are available immediately for patients requiring admission.
A full range of outpatient clinics is available on site for follow-up.
As a Consultant-delivered service, UPMC Beacon Hospital ED will treat most
emergency conditions.
What we will not treat
Children under 16 years for anything other than minor injuries
Children under two years of age for any condition
Patients with acute psychiatric conditions
Obstetric patients
As UPMC Beacon Hospital is not a public hospital, it will not take public ambulance traffic.
