Dr. Purcell graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1996. Following an internship at St James’s Hospital Dublin, Dr Purcell taught anatomy at Trinity College Dublin and obtained a postgraduate Masters of Medical Science degree in anatomy and anthropology from University College Dublin.
Dr Purcell became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on completion of basic Surgical Training and subsequently undertook a period of laboratory based research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.
Higher Surgical Training in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery led to FRCSI(Plast) and additionally, Dr Purcell undertook a European diploma in hand surgery (FESSH) and achieved 3rd place in the European board certification examinations in Plastic Surgery, (EBOPRAS). Dr Purcell completed her training with a clinical fellowship in breast and microsurgery at Addenbrooke’s hospital, Cambridge, UK, before returning to practice in Ireland.
Dr. Purcell is a specialist registered Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeon with the Irish Medical Council and is a member of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons (IAPS).
