Speech & Language Therapy: Paediatric
Speech and Language Therapy assesses and treats children with communication difficulties and / or difficulty eating, drinking or swallowing.
After an in-depth assessment is completed, a suitable intervention for your child will be discussed. As part of the service, education to family members and carers will be provided.
The Speech and Language Therapists working in Beacon Hospital are highly qualified and have extensive experience working with children suffering from a wide range of speech, swallowing, and language disorders.
At Beacon Hospital, we provide a comprehensive range of SLT treatments for those who have difficulties with speech and language.
Commonly Treated Paediatric Conditions Include:
Communication
We specialise in working with children with early speech or language difficulties (aged 6 and under). If you have concerns about your child in any of the areas below we can work with your child.
- Unclear speech / difficulty with sound production (Speech)
- Delayed talking/poor vocabulary/difficulty getting messages across (expressive language)
- Difficulty following instructions (understanding language)
We do not accept referrals for the following areas:
- Voice difficulties
- Stammering / Stuttering
FEDS (Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing):
We also specialise in working with children with the following eating and drinking difficulties:
- Restrictive diet/fussy eating
- Difficulty weaning/gagging/drooling
- Coughing on food or drinks/choking episodes/swallowing difficulties
We do not offer a Paediatric Videofluoroscopy Service in Beacon for Kids.
