Prof Ed Smyth has over 30 years experience as a Consultant Microbiologist in Beaumont Hospital. He has a special interest in infection in the intensive care unit patient, orthopaedic infection, complicated surgical infections and in the management of infection caused by multi-drug resistant organisms.
He joins the very well established Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team and will also be a member of the IPC Committee. He is available to see patient on consult and provide telephone advice around the clock.
