Training:
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Paul Murphy graduated from University College Dublin in June 1988. He interned at St Vincent’s Hospital and was Anatomy Demonstrator in UCD Medical School 1989-90. He completed his basic surgical training in 1992, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He received a Masters of Medical Science (2.1 honours) in the same year. He was on the Middle Grade Orthopaedic Registrar Rotation 1992-94 and gained entry onto the Senior Registrar programme 1997-99. He passed his fellowship examinations in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 1998, and was entered into the Specialist Register of Trauma and Orthopaedics in January 2000.
Mr Murphy undertook further fellowship training abroad at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia, encompassing all aspects of primary and revision hip and knee joint surgery.
